October in Overview
October was one heck of a month I must say, I had to grow up a lot, do a lot of grown up things like getting a job and such. Didn't get the job though, the real world sort of sucks in comparison to my fantasy world. For example, in my fantasy world where I'm a feisty , quirky, introvert mind you, I could have some how miraculously gotten my dream job that pays well and kick started my life as a quirky, fun woman-child who on weekends is also a fun loving a couch potato but nooo, the real world refuses to go my way instead it involves applying for a jobs that requires 5 years experience, a noble peace prize, an oscar, an Olympic gold medal and an advanced degree, it entails fighting for a job that a 1000 more people are applying for, then waiting for interviews and going for them, nervous as heck, only to get one of those, 'don't call us, we'll call you' lines which you know means,' nah bruh you didn't get this job,' then the cycle of looking for a job so that you can afford to exist begins again. Phew that was a mouth full. Sigh but it's not all bad, I'm getting the hang of the real world honestly, I'm just gonna going to take everything day by day cause it's the only way to be the best that I can be. Argh I sound like the female protagonist in a YA novel any who moving on, the whole job applications thing was a good learning experience, I guess it's going to spill over into November as well, I need a job you guys, I literary can't afford to do anything and everything these days costs money sigh, sigh, and a couple more long frustrated sighs!! Anywho dear readers I thought I'd share with you how my October went! It wasn't all job applications, interviews and quarter life crises you know! I did other things.
READ...
Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen (finally! Such a cute book and the movie is awesome how many times can you say that?! hmm? book readers, you know what i'm talking about!), Your soul is a river by Nikita Gill, it's a book of poetry, brilliant I must say! Can't wait for her latest book! It will be out this month! I also read the princess saves herself in this one by Amanda Lovelace, it's also poetry, like I said last time been really into poetry these days not love poems though, sick of those, i'm into poetry that speaks of healing, self love, self care and such, I guess I'm in that head space right now so yeah.
Currently I'm reading two books, 'The Grass is singing by Debra Lessing' and 'The Sun and Her Flowers by Rupi Kaur.' The grass is singing is beautifully written just like my dad said but it's a difficult book to read honestly, the racism is too much! Yes I get that it was written in 1949 by a white settler in South Africa and that was the norm at the time but it still sickens me, and had I not been invested in the story I would have thrown the book where the sun doesn't shine and while i was throwing the book there perhaps i coul pick up my diet plans. The sun and her flowers is Rupi Kaur's second book of poetry and it's amazing!! Love it, love it, looovvve it!!!!
Listened to......
